Kiratiana Freelon

Kiratiana splits her time between Chicago and Rio de Janeiro, and embodies what it means to be a true citizen of the world, having lived in three different countries. She has supported executive searches for more than ten years. Her desire to find "superstar" talent who will positively transform organizations and sectors spurs her work. She has led recruiting on more than 75 high-profile searches for positions ranging from Vice President to Chief Executive Officer and specializes in nonprofit and government searches in the following functions and sectors: advancement and development, community development, higher education, human resources, journalism, and social justice.

Early in her search career, Kiratiana worked with the Boulware Group, a boutique executive search firm based in Chicago. There, she developed strategic ways to unearth exceptional talent based on the client's needs. She then moved on to support Gumbs & Partners, assisting in searches for leaders of some of the most influential social justice and advocacy organizations in the United States.

She holds a degree in economics from Harvard University and a Masters in journalism from the City University of New York.

Kiratiana is also an active freelance writer and journalist. Her work, which focuses on social justice, has appeared in The Washington Post, NPR, Essence magazine, New York Magazine, The Root, and others. She has also written two books, "Kiratiana's Travel Guide to Black Paris (2010)" and "Kiratiana's Travel Guide to Multicultural London (2012)."
